The Vale of Clwyd Angling Club
Cymdeithas Enweirio Dyffryn Clwyd
There are two or three good pools in the first 200 yards upstream of the bridge including the junction of the River Clwyd and the Dwr Ial stream (once a prolific spawning tributary for migratory fish but now sadly few migratory fish enter this stream due mainly to years of agricultural pollution).
The middle of this beat can be accessed by parking next to the newly remodelled fish pass by the sewage work in Ruthin (turn off the new Ruthin bypass towards the public refuse collection centre (Dump!). Below the water fall are two deep interestingly named pools, `Holy Moses number 1 and Holy Moses number 2′. It is well worth stopping to see the fish jumping on the waterfall from September onwards following heavy rain. Not the most popular stretch to fish due to its close proximity to the sewage works and it is also a popular dog walking area so fishing can be disturbed by the odd diving Labrador!
The upper beat is accessed from the car park next to Bridge garage in Ruthin centre. Not much holding water here and again due to its proximity to Ruthin town centre can be very busy.
How to get there:
The lower part of the beat is accessed from Pont Telpyn
